Leading towards making our vision in the field of information and communications a reality

Here, we introduce the seeds of technology that we possess in order to lead towards realizing our vision in the field of information and communications. In this field, we're striving to develop devices and systems that utilize the characteristics of light to the utmost limit as we take on the challenge of creating optical computers, quantum computers and even "thinking computers" that can be realized by finding solutions to complex systems.

Holography technology

Holography, which is used to record and play back the amplitudes and phase distributions of light, is opening up greater possibilities for technology, among them animated image display technology that would play back 3D animated images of objects using computer holograms, and still image display technology such as hologram printers that would output 3D photos. Those technologies could be taken a step further in the future, to develop interfaces, large-capacity memories and other advances.

IVS (Intelligent Vision System)

Requiring only one-thousandth of a second to recognize an image and output a control signal, the IVS (Intelligent Vision System) not only enables high-speed image processing but could also open up applications in diverse fields ranging from movement control in production systems and robots to high-speed correction of laser light. |

Working to make quantum computers a reality

In order to bring quantum computers into the realm of reality, we will need to develop devices that can handle the generation and measurement of quantum bits, as well as other operations. Hamamatsu Photonics is already seizing the initiative in developing the devices that will open up a new era in quantum computing. Through our work, we're making a contribution to the information-oriented society that lies just around the next corner. |
