Hamamatsu Photonics is striving to create a "thinking computer" that uses light to provide features such as hyper-parallelism and ultra-fast speed.

Computers and communication networks are part of an infrastructure that has become indispensable in our everyday lives, and advancements in those areas are presenting interesting possibilities for further evolution in coming societies. Light, which has its own unique features such as hyper-parallelism and ultra-fast speed, occupies a key position in advances being made in information and communications technology. Hamamatsu Photonics is developing devices and systems that utilize the characteristics of light to the utmost limit as we take on the challenge of creating optical computers, quantum computers and even "thinking computers" that can be realized by finding solutions to complex systems.

We introduce the products and technologies that lead us towards realizing our vision for the field of information and communications, on the pages of "seeds of technology".

On our global Web site, under the heading "What Can We Do With Light?" (under "Special Contents"), we explain our thoughts concerning how we want to go about creating new fields of industry based on opto-technology. We hope you'll take a look at that along with the information provided here.
