Sample Release of Multi-Pixel Photon Counters
to Begin November 1

10/26/2006

New MPPC opto-semiconductors offer ultra-low-level light detection for PET, HEP, medical imaging, and other applications.

Hamamatsu, Japan – October 26, 2006 – Hamamatsu Photonics has developed the S10362-11 series of multi-pixel photon counters (MPPC) for the detection of ultra-low-level light. The S10362-11 series features gain of approximately 10e6 and is available in three types. It is intended for use in a wide range of applications, including positron emission tomography (PET), high-energy physics (HEP), medical imaging, biology, and environmental analysis.

Engineering samples of the new detectors will be available from November 1, 2006. Production release is currently scheduled to begin on January 25, 2007. Prior to these releases, the S10362-11 will be exhibited at the 2006 Nuclear Science Symposium (San Diego, California) from October 31 to November 2.
