Construction starts on new building at Toyooka Laboratory, to be used for mass production of new photomultiplier tubes and to expand and bolster production
October. 2004.
Hamamatsu Photonics is beginning construction on a new building at its Toyooka Laboratory (Iwata-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture), the principal base of its Electron Tube Division, primarily for the purpose of expanding and bolstering development and production of a new head-on type of photomultiplier tube. At the new building, the company will be boosting its development and production capabilities for conventional products, and will also be establishing mass-production technology for flat-panel photomultiplier tubes to be installed in its new PET systems. The move is aimed at significantly reducing manufacturing costs, and will also expand sales channels for radiation detectors used for non-destructive testing, high-energy physical properties testing and other purposes. Hamamatsu Photonics continues to promote the development of devices based on future-oriented new concepts that apply micro-processing technology and MEMS (micro-machines), on improving performance through the use of new semiconductor materials, and on the development of new applications.
