CERN laboratory

CERN is the world's largest elementary particle physics (high-energy physics) international research laboratory. In large-particle accelerator planning, researchers from universities and research institutes all over the world are planning experiments to discover the Higgs particle, the only elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics that has not yet been discovered and may give mass to other particles. Opto-semiconductor products from the Solid State Division are being used in cutting-edge elementary particle research.

CCD area image sensor for X-rays

This CCD will be used in the international space station, for Xray mapping of celestial bodies throughout space, and measurement of fluctuating phenomena in outer galactic space.
