Creating new markets for semiconductor lasers

High-power semiconductor lasers

The light-based technology of the future may undergo a metamorphosis because of semiconductor lasers, which offer numerous features such as compact size, light weight, low power consumption, high efficiency, and long lifetime.
Through the challenge of laser nuclear fusion, an enormous source of energy, and other research, Hamamatsu Photonics continues to explore the myriad possibilities of semiconductor lasers. Our research begins with crystals, the material of which lasers are made, and goes on to embrace design, semiconductor processes, assembly, and cooling technology. In all of these areas, we continue adding to our store of proprietary knowhow, working to strengthen the practical application of semiconductor lasers. As we go about solving that challenge, countless ideas arise, and these ideas serve as the source for upcoming products by the Laser Group. We have also established a new production base that will be able to accommodate large-scale mass production.
