The Optical Communications Group works with spatial light transmission, in which data is transmitted through the air using infrared light, with the aim of presenting new proposals for optical wireless system and broadband applications. Hamamatsu Photonics was one of the first companies to promote research relating to this technology. In the Optical Communications Group, spatial light transmission technology is applied in network construction, and joining this technology with other light-related technologies enables practical application of high-speed wireless communication. Currently, in addition to optical wireless systems, the Optical Communications Group is involved in developing a broad spectrum of applications using high-speed infrastructures. The group will continue to promote further research and development with the aim of constantly coming up with new proposals.
