Fiber optic communications


With fiber-optic communications, electrical signals are converted to optical signals and transmitted through a fiber-optic cable at high speed. With this type of communication, the light-receiving and light-emitting devices are key components. Our photodiode and laser diode modules, which offer outstanding time characteristics, are being put to use in this field.


Road Traffic Information System (VICS)


In this system, communication is carried out using light between a unit installed in the vehicle and a unit installed on the road, providing road information such as congestion updates. Our light emitting/receiving module for the VICS is being used as a part of this technology.

Spatial light transmission


Wireless communication is carried out by sending infrared rays directly into space, such as into the atmosphere. Here, our products like laser diodes, large-surface Si PIN photodiodes, Si APDs (avalanche photodiodes) and digital optical wireless systems are hard at work.


Measuring instruments for optical communications


As Internet use surges, the requirements for higher speeds and larger capacities in devices and systems used for optical communications are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Our laser beam profilers, optical oscilloscopes and other types of measuring instruments are being used in evaluating and testing those devices and systems.
